This leads you to the first of the two control towers to assault. Once you clear the AA guns you get an airdrop of Warthogs you can use to fight your way up a mountain pass, tackling defensive turrets, light infantry, Ghosts and finally a pair of Wraith tanks and some Brute choppers when the path finally levels out. That's already a cool and classic Halo setup, but its just the very beginning. I think GOW III peaked at that moment.Ĭronos is one of my favorite levels of the past gen. Instead, they used the titan's flesh as a level where they showcased what makes the franchise shine: fantastic set-pieces, great battles, disgustingly gory moments, and visual spectacle. It was so well thought out, because fighting Cronos in a regular fight wouldn't have made any sense. That's what I like the most about it: it's not a generic boss fight against a massive enemy (which they could have done) it's a level that takes place on the creature. Not only it's one of the most incredible looking scenes in a video-game yet, but it's also a fantastic level overall. When I saw Cronos in GOW III, I was interested to see what Santa Monica had in mind for a battle against such a gigantic creature. There are times in action games where the bosses are huge freaks for the sake of it, and fighting them is just not as fun as fighting the regular sized enemies.
